The class of 2007

Bears visit the Edward Cotter Fireboat
It is the oldest working fireboat in the world. Engineer John Harter gave the kids a tour and explained about the many gauges and engines(4 in all) it takes to operate the boat. We then visited Fire Marshall Jim O'Neill. He explained to the kids the many dangers of fires before he was called out to investigate a fire.

Thought they could get away with it, did they?
Not with Officer Kocieniewski on the job.

Officer Kocieniewski, of the West Seneca Police Department and our very own Cub Scout Dad, came by to teach the Bears about safety and how they can assist the police, or other emergency personnel, when their services are needed.

Here we see Patrick and Adam getting the cuffs slapped on them for being in the wrong place at the wrong time (a likely story), while Nick was witness to the whole thing. No pepper spray was needed during the incident.

We don't need Smokey the Bear - we have our own fire fighting bears on the job. The Bears visited the Firemen's Memorial Exhibit Center, at 4141 Seneca St, on January 16th and were treated to the long history of firefighting equipment, vehicles, and emergency communications (imagine the 'Batman' crime computer from the TV series - but without the computer).

Thanks to Art (in the background) for the tour.
